The Saudi ambassador published a tweet on her official page on Twitter, in which she reviewed the most prominent Saudi positions towards Ukraine, which included what the Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, said to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, about the Kingdom’s condemnation of Russia’s annexation of Ukrainian lands.
The Saudi crown prince had made a phone call with the Ukrainian president on October 15, in which he said: “The Kingdom’s vote in favor of the United Nations General Assembly resolution stems from its support for adherence to the principles established in the Charter of the United Nations and international law, and its affirmation of respect for the sovereignty of states and the principles of good neighborliness. and resolve disputes by peaceful means.
Princess Rima bint Bandar also reviewed Saudi Arabia’s provision of additional humanitarian aid worth $400 million during the same call, with the aim of contributing to alleviating the suffering of Ukrainian citizens during the crisis the country is going through.
The Saudi ambassador to Washington drew attention to Zelensky’s thanks to Mohammed bin Salman for his willingness to play a mediating role in resolving the conflict and for the Kingdom’s firm position and its humanitarian initiatives.
Princess Rima Bint Bandar stated that the Kingdom voted against the decision to annex Ukrainian territory to Russia on October 12, and the efforts of the Saudi Crown Prince in the process of releasing 10 prisoners of war in Russia and Ukraine from five countries, and indicated that two of them hold American citizenship.
The ambassador also reviewed the Kingdom’s contribution of $10 million to support Ukrainian refugees in Poland, and indicated that Saudi Arabia extended the visas of Ukrainian visitors to it and allowed Ukrainian tourists and residents to remain on its territory, and also recalled the Kingdom’s position on March 2 in favor of the General Assembly resolution supporting international law. Respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of member states, including Ukraine.
Princess Rima Bint Bandar spoke about Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s supportive position for de-escalation since the beginning of the crisis, during his contacts with Presidents Zelensky and Putin, and his expression of the Kingdom’s readiness to mediate in order to resolve the conflict and the Kingdom’s support for international efforts to find a political solution to the crisis.
And the White House had considered that the decision of “OPEC Plus” to reduce oil production by two million barrels per day, starting next November, lined up with Russia, and indicated that Washington is in the process of re-evaluating relations with Saudi Arabia on this basis.
