Lieutenant-General, Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Transport, conducted an inspection tour of the first line of the “Ain Sukhna – El Alamein – Marsa Matrouh” express train project, within the framework of the political leadership’s directives to expand the establishment of a green, clean and environment-friendly transport network.
Where the Minister inspected the implementation works of the project in the distance from Borg El Arab station in Alexandria to Ras Al-Hikma city with a length of 185 km, where the work of implementing earth bridges and stations and the construction of a number of track bridges and the intersections of electric express trains with main roads were followed up, as well as the works of diverting utilities conflicting with The track and the removal of all encroachments on the railway campus with the “Al-Qabbari Matrouh” line, where the track passes parallel to the line and is located in the south of the current railway campus and there are a number of important stations on it, which is the Burj Al Arab station. Al Arab Industrial and close to the international coastal road, it is a station for the express train and one of the largest stations on the line, as it consists of 6 railways.
The Minister of Transport went to the site of “Al-Hamam Station” about 25 km after Borg Al-Arab Station, which is a regional station, serving the city of Al-Hamam and a number of villages on the northern coast. Which serves the new city of El Alamein and its tourist movement and the northwest coast, in addition to the movement of goods to and from the port of El Alamein.
The Minister also inspected the ongoing works at the stations of Sidi Abdel Rahman, El Dabaa, Almaza and Ras El Hikma, and these stations extend for about 90 km of the track on the international coastal road, as these stations are located in the middle of these cities, in order to serve the residents, workers and visitors of these cities, as the traffic represents The express train in these cities is a positive incentive to turn to these cities, whether to work in them, live in them, or establish investment projects that require labor and a safe means of transportation.
During his tour of this distance, the minister continued the work of implementing a number of bridges at the intersection of the electric express train with the main roads, such as the bridges intersecting with the Burj Al Arab and Gharbaniyat roads, the Muhammad Najib base road, the Al-Ameed Al-Jabasat road, Wadi Al-Natroun Al-Alamein, Petroleum and Sidi Abdel Rahman, as well as the implementation works of 2 track bridges. Burj Al Arab and Ruwaisat.
The minister directed the implementation of all works according to high quality standards and work around the clock to complete the project, according to the planned date, especially with the importance of the project, which is the beginning of the rapid electric train network system that is being implemented and which will represent a new civilized shift in the means of transportation in Egypt.
The Minister of Transport also directed the necessity of coordinating with all concerned state agencies and the governorates through which the express train tracks pass, in order to take into account the projects being implemented as well as the planned implementation in order to work on the integration of the various means of transport and to avoid any conflict in the ongoing and planned national projects.
It is worth mentioning that the network of rapid electric trains being constructed consists of 3 lines covering all parts of the Republic with a total length of up to 2000 km. The length of the first line, Ain Sukhna, El Alamein, Matrouh, Fayoum is 660 km. The design speed of the project trains is 250 km / h, the operational speed of trains is 230 km / h, and the speed of the trains is 230 km / h. The operation of regional electric trains is 160 km / h, and the speed of operation of electric goods tractors is 120 km / h. The project includes 22 stations, including 10 express train stations and 12 regional stations, indicating that the locations of the stations were fixed and a decision of public interest was issued from the beginning of the track The project is in Ain Sukhna and even the city of Matrouh.
The express train project will contribute to providing job opportunities, reducing traffic congestion, achieving higher levels of passenger safety, a better impact on the environment, aiding economic development, strengthening the region’s infrastructure, and helping to contain urban sprawl.
The implementation of a fast electric train line “passengers and goods” linking the city of Ain Sukhna on the Red Sea coast to the city of Matrouh on the Mediterranean coast, passing through the New Administrative Capital, the Sixth of October City and the new city of Burj Al Arab and Al Alamein, will contribute to linking the new administrative capital and the new cities with a railway network To transport passengers and goods through a fast, modern and safe means of transportation, and the rapid electric train system that will cover all parts of the Republic, in addition to being development arteries serving the new and existing urban and industrial areas, it will contribute to reducing and shortening the travel time between governorates for more than half the time that the citizen currently takes, whether through the old train network. Or via the current roads linking the provinces.
The project will also contribute to the establishment of new logistical zones that serve all industrial or agricultural zones passing through, as it contributes to transporting products from them or transporting raw materials to them quickly and safely.
