Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca advanced in the semi-finals of the African Champions League, after defeating its Algerian rival, Cheb Belouizdad, 1-0, in a meeting that brought the two teams together at the “July 5” stadium in the first leg of the quarter-finals.
The Moroccan champion suffered an early blow, specifically in the seventh minute, after Jalal Daoudi was sent off, so that the Wydad team played the rest of the match with ten players.
Despite the numerical shortage in the ranks of the friendly team, the Moroccan champions managed to achieve a valuable victory over the Algerian champions with a goal without a response, which came through Ji Mbitza in the 46th minute of the events of the second half and the match.
The return match is scheduled to take place in Casablanca, specifically at the Mohammed V Sports Complex, a week from now.
The Moroccan champion needs to come out with a tie result at least to reach the semi-finals, unlike the Algerian champion, who has no choice but to compensate and win at least (2-0) to snatch the qualification card from outside the home.
The winner of this match will meet the winner of the second party between Petro Atletico of Angola and Sundowns of South Africa, where the first outperformed in the first leg match, which was held at his stadium, with a score of (2-1).
